Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 June 2026
Verifoto is a mobile app published by Karitec Limited ("we", "us"). It helps you create passport, visa, and ID photos that meet official document specifications.
This policy explains what data Verifoto handles, how it's processed, and what your rights are. Plain language only.
The short version
- Verifoto does not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal data on our servers. We don't operate a backend for Verifoto.
- All photo capture, face detection, background removal, and image processing happens on your device. Your photos never leave your phone unless you share them.
- No analytics. No third-party tracking. No advertising.
- No account required. Verifoto does not ask you to sign up or sign in.
What Verifoto accesses on your device
| Data | Why | Where it goes |

| Photo Library (read) | To let you pick an existing photo when you choose "Upload from gallery". | Stays on device. Used only for the active session. |
| Photo Library (add) | To save the finished passport photo back to your gallery if you choose to. | Stays on device. Saved by you, controlled by you. |
| Temporary storage | To hold the in-progress photo while we process it. | Cleared automatically by your operating system. |
You grant or deny each of these permissions through the standard system prompt. You can revoke them at any time in your device's Settings.
What Verifoto does NOT collect
Verifoto does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:
- Your name, email, phone number, address, or any other contact information
- Your location
- Your photos (the ones you capture or upload), in any form, on any server
- Your face data, biometric identifiers, or any derivative
- Device identifiers used for advertising or tracking
- Usage analytics, telemetry, or crash reports linked to your identity
- Browsing or search history
Face data
Verifoto analyses faces to check that your photo meets passport requirements and to crop it correctly. We want to be completely clear about how this works:
- What is processed: Verifoto uses Google ML Kit's on-device Face Detection and Selfie Segmentation to locate the face in your photo and measure its position and size (face bounding box, eye positions, head angle, and a person/background outline).
- How it is used: these measurements are used only, and momentarily, to (1) check compliance with the passport specification (head size, eye line, centring, single face, expression) and (2) crop the photo and replace the background. They are used on your device during the active editing session and for nothing else.
- Where it is processed and stored: entirely on your device. The ML Kit models run locally. No face data, no facial measurements, and no photo are ever uploaded to Karitec, to Google, or to any server. Verifoto has no backend that receives this data.
- Sharing with third parties: none. Face data is never sold, shared, or transmitted to any third party.
- Retention: face data is not retained. The facial measurements exist only in memory while you are editing a photo and are discarded as soon as processing finishes or you leave the screen. Verifoto does not build, store, or maintain any face database, template, or biometric identifier.
The on-device face detection is for photo composition only. It is not facial recognition, it does not identify who you are, and it is not used for authentication.
Sharing the finished photo
When you choose to save your finished photo to your Photo Library, or to share it via the share sheet to another app (email, messaging, the Nigeria Immigration Service upload portal, etc.), you are doing that yourself. Verifoto does not transmit your photo on your behalf to any third party.
Children
Verifoto is rated 4+ on the App Store and suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect information from children — we don't collect information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how Verifoto handles data, we will update this page and bump the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
